COMPETITION DATES

The competition is open from the 0:01 BST on the 1st of June 2018 and runs until 23:59 hrs on the 31st of May 2019.

RULES

  1. All fish caught and entered into the Fishing Comp UK must be caught using fair angling methods using conventional recreational angling equipment which includes a rod, reel and applicable end tackle. To count a fish must be caught fairly in the mouth and not foul hooked.
  2. Only fish caught using a LURE ONLY may be submitted to the Fishing Comp UK.
  3. Only fish caught within the territorial waters of the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands are eligible to be entered. Fish caught outside of the territorial waters listed above are not eligible for entry. This includes any fish caught in UK Crown dependencies such as but not limited to Gibraltar, The Falkland Islands etc.
  4. Only fish measured and photographed on an approved measure will are eligible for entry. Fish not measured and photographed on an approved measure will be disqualified.
  5. Please make sure you follow our How to Measure Guidelines, fish that do not strictly follow these can be disqualified. These guidelines are designed so that each fish is measured fairly.
  6. Only one fish per person, per species, can be entered in any one day. For example, you cannot submit two Perch on the same day but can submit a Perch and a Pike on the same day.
  7. For saltwater species, you must accurately input the type of fishing (boat, kayak, shore). Different target lengths apply to each of these categories. This is so shore anglers can compete with boat anglers fairly.
  8. Approved fishing measures cannot be modified in anyway.
  9. The organisers retain the right to disqualify any catch submitted which does not comply with our rules.
  10. The organisers reserve the right to update any incorrect catches. For example but not limited to, where the length and/or type of fish has been incorrectly entered, the organisers will adjust the catch in accordance with these rules.
  11. Fishing Comp UK decisions are final.

HOW IS LENGTH DETERMINED

  1. The measurement will be the point where the middle of the tail touches the measure. For species with a V type tail, this will be the innermost point of the V.
  2. Fish measurements that are not on the absolute CM measuring line should be rounded up to the nearest CM thereafter. For example, if the fish measurement is 50.5cm then the fish should be recorded as 51cm. Please make sure all of your measurements are clearly visible in your submitted photos, this will be used to determine if the fish is over the CM line or not.
